To investigate a problem our support engineers may ask you to perform a ping or traceroute. This article will explain how to do this on Windows and Mac.
Note: Do not use an online ping or traceroute tool! Those tools will execute the tests from the server of the website and not your own connection.
On Windows
You can use the script as described in VoIP Connection Analyzer - Windows or run the commands manually:
- Press the keys ⊞ Win + R, a small window called "Run" should open.
- Enter cmd.exe and hit Enter ⏎. A "Command Prompt" window should open.
- Type ping 1.sip.kwebbl.net and hit Enter ⏎. Copy or make a screenshot of the result.
- Type ping 4.sip.kwebbl.net and hit Enter ⏎. Copy or make a screenshot of the result.
- Type tracert 1.sip.kwebbl.net and hit Enter ⏎. Copy or make a screenshot of the result.
- Type tracert 4.sip.kwebbl.net and hit Enter ⏎ . Copy or make a screenshot of the result.
On Mac
You can use the script as described in VoIP Connection Analyzer - Mac/Linux or run the commands manually:
- Press the keys ⌘ Cmd + ␣ space. An overlay called "Spotlight search" should open.
- Enter terminal and hit Enter ⏎. A "Terminal" window should open.
- Type ping 1.sip.kwebbl.net and hit Enter ⏎. Copy or make a screenshot of the result.
- Type ping 4.sip.kwebbl.net and hit Enter ⏎. Copy or make a screenshot of the result.
- Type tracert 1.sip.kwebbl.net and hit Enter ⏎. Copy or make a screenshot of the result.
- Type tracert 4.sip.kwebbl.net and hit Enter ⏎ . Copy or make a screenshot of the result.
